Our Mission

We at Catelowna believe all animals deserve to be cared for and loved. The human-animal bond developed is mutually beneficial and influences behaviours essential to the health and well-being of both.

First this bond is great for humans. Research into this bond has shown a cat’s purr can lower blood pressure and stroking a cat can slow your heart rate. By stopping, resting and watching - and we can help you do this! - people can become more mindful and present in their day-to-day lives.

The bond is great for cats, too, especially when they find their forever home.

Our Mission is to find loving homes for homeless cats by providing a central, safe, warm and unique environment where people can hang out with adoptable rescue cats and discover the joy of pet ownership.

We will support rescue centres in their capacity building by acting as a foster home for their kitties. Specifically, we will pay for their food, litter, stimulus, utilities, staff and rent. We will also cover their transportation to the cafe and donate entrance fee proceeds to rescue centres to help them with the work they do.

Cats have a wonderful way of reminding us how to live in the moment, and we want Catelowna to be the “go-to” place for Okanagan residents to be inspired and educated by this quality. It’s a great opportunity for us to show ourselves some self-love, and it’s also as opportunity to create more cat lovers in this world.

Through an outreach program, Catelowna aims to demonstrate and teach the highest level of cat care while helping people with mental illness and autism, dementia and Alzheimer’s, through access to animal assisted therapy.
